Restorers 3 1/8 Inch Iron Trunk Hasp


Traditionally styled hasps provide the finishing touch on primitive chests and trunks. Handcrafted, Restorers 3 1/8" Iron Trunk Hasp has a well-aged appearance making it ideally suited for replacement on antique originals or authentic re-creations! Mounting hardware included. Oil Blackened, Black Powder Coat, Rust, Raw Cast Iron. 1 3/8" W x 3 1/8" L.

  • Small Leaf: 1 1/16" Length x 1" Width
  • Large Leaf: 2 1/8" Length x 1" Width
  • Will work with padlock 204936.

    • Oil Blackened is raw iron coated with oil. The oil will wear and expose the iron beneath, which will rust. Left as is, this finish will erode, or rub off. This can be prevented by sealing with furniture wax or a clear coat sealant.

    Rust is a raw iron that has been oxidized. This finish will continue to rust over time and will rub off. This finish can be preserved by sealing with furniture wax or a clear coat sealant.

    Black Powder Coat is a baked on finish that is virtually maintenance free. This finish is shinier than Oil Blackened and is permanent.

    Weathered Bronze is made from solid cast bronze. Weathered bronze will continue to age and patina over time. No two pieces will ever look identical.

    I like the appearance of this hasp set. The actual length was 2 and 13/16 inches long - shorter than the 3 and 1/8 inches long description. I wanted the oil-rubbed version, but it was out of stock. I got the powder-coated item, which was completely satisfactory for my project (Dutch Tool Chest). It really completed the look of my project. It functions smoothly, and with no rubbing/extra tension in the hinge. You won't be disappointed, especially for the price (about $20)..

    I did not like that you.could not close the hasp. The tolerances are too tight. The loop barely flits when straight. When you try to close it it will not close. Also this isn't my first review...the first wasn't posted.

    works very well, though had to use smaller screws than those included; the mounting I used was such that the tongue folded over the part it is hinged to, and that has two benefits--it now lays flat on the front of the box, and also the screws are covered so that the hasp is more secure--the hasp as a whole can't be taken off by removing the screws, since they are all covered by the tongue.

    I ordered this hasp to secure a set of 'barn doors' I had installed on a woodshed. The hasp was smaller than I envisioned, but it was easy to install and should last against fowl weather.
